Sugar Detox

I mentioned in an earlier post that I'm not really one for trying to change myself for the New Year especially right at the beginning of the year. I feel it just adds too much pressure and by the middle of January you sort of forget why you're doing what you're doing and revert back to your old habits. But regardless of this, I wanted to share this little idea with you.

During the lead up to my semester 1 deadline the past few weeks have seen me leave the house about once a week and on more than one occasion I have found myself still in my pyjamas at dinner time. They were dark times! And in addition to this I found myself drinking copious amounts of coffee as well as consuming a great deal of sugar mainly in the form of cake. I love cake! Needless to say, December and January were not my healthiest months and it showed! Besides gaining an extra 4lbs which really did not need to happen, my acne also returned with vengeance! So, I think this pretty much calls for a positive change...

A sugar detox! 

I have been thinking of doing a sugar detox for a long while now but with a sweet tooth like mine I kept finding excuses to not do it. But regardless I know this over-indulgence and lifestyle cannot continue!

The plan is to give up all types of processed sugar till my birthday because well, it's just not a birthday without cake! Hopefully, this will all encourage me to make better, more healthier decisions when choosing my meals and snacks and pull me away from my dependency to sugar! Whether it will be a change for life I don't know but I hope it will be a step in the right direction.

  1. Good luck! I'm currently trying to cut out bread, gluten and most dairy, but it is hard! Even just cutting down is a step in the right direct!

    1. Thank you for the support and I completely feel your pain! I've struggled to cut those food groups out too, it is so difficult! Small steps though, like you said!

  3. I am currently trying to consciously choose fruit over biscuits and cakes. That way I still get to satisfy my sweet tooth but in a healthy way. One of my favourites is mango. And the vitamin c will keep you awake. Xx Dandy I
